YASHRESH YA’AKOV

Yashresh Ya’akov - Parshas Vayishlach

To whom did the gift that Ya’akov sent to Eisav really belong?

(32,19) “And you shall say: To your servant, to Ya’akov, it is a gift sent to my lord, to Eisav, and behold also he is behind us.”

The posuk says “to your servant, to Ya’akov, it is a gift sent” because it says in the Midrash on the posuk in Tehillim 72:10 “the kings of Tarshish and the isles will return a gift” that all the gifts which Ya’akov gave to Eisav will be returned in the days of Moshiach.

Therefore our posuk hints that even though Ya’akov sent the gift to Eisav,“to Ya’akov it is a gift” - it really belongs to Ya’akov and will be returned in the future.
